This pastel portrait is a tribute to the mysterious Hyena, an animal that doesn't get as much praise as other african wildlife. They are formidable creatures that never fail to excite me when I encounter them in the wild (which I have twice, in Tanzania and South Africa). The family of the hyenas is closest related to mongooses (not dogs!) and counts 4 different species, all living in Africa.
