Snow Buntings are song birds that can be found on several continents but are typically seen in the winter months in Western Europe when they migrate from the northern regions. There they forage in sometimes large flocks on coastal flatlands, grasslands and inland fields. They behave rather restless.
The proceeds of this artwork will go to a Belgian bunting project called 'Werkgroep Grauwe Gors', an organisation focused heavily on keeping viable breeding populations of Corn Buntings & other songbirds in North-Western European agricultural areas like in Belgium. In contrast to Snow buntings, Corn buntings are having significantly more difficulty in surviving in N-W Europe. The project is also supporting the survival of birds of prey like Harriers and interacting with farmers to come with sustainable solutions for both wildlife & local communities.
