The African Wild Dog, a beautiful but critically endangered canine species that has a rich and complex social life. They often form large groups where each individual has its role to play, and their packs are typically led by an alpha female. They care deeply about eachother and these bonds are strenghtened through years living together trying to survive in a rapidly changing landscape. Most threats are related to illegal snares accidents, road kill, loss of habitat and landowner conflict.
The proceeds of this artwork will go to Painted Dog Conservation, a non-profit active in Hwange NP in Zimbabwe, with clearly outlined long-term conservation and outreach strategies. An organisation that also actively involves the local community in their projects which is a massive plus in terms of effective conservation work.
